Bio:
Born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, Barbara Pleasant is “one of America’s most trusted garden writers” (Cheryl Long, editor-in-chief of Mother Earth News magazine). A four-time winner of Garden Globe awards given by the Garden Writers Association, Barbara has written numerous books on a wide range of subjects from vegetables to weeds. Her newest Book, Starter Vegetable Gardens (Storey, 2010), leaves no excuse not to grow a beautiful, productive garden filled with vegetables and herbs. Barbara is a contributing editor for Mother Earth News magazine, where she has written the “Gardening Know-How” column for the past two years. She lives in Floyd, Virginia, where she grows vegetables, herbs, fruits, and flowers.
